Holocaust and Human Behaviour Case Study

Organisation: Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys

‘Holocaust and Human Behaviour' is a 12 week course undertaken by year 9 pupils from Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys in their history and citizenship lessons. The course is based on a learning approach and series of educational resources developed by the organisation Facing History and Ourselves.

During the course young people take a journey through the Facing History 'Scope and sequence'. This means they study about issues of identity, belonging, a historical case study about Weimar Germany, Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, issues of justice and legacies to do with genocide and choosing to participate.

Assessments are done using, among other things, national curriculum history and citizenship criteria and benchmarks.
