Away to Remember Competition (Their Past Your Future Project)

Away to Remember Competition - Their Past Your Future Project

Tuesday 9th of September
Provider: Imperial War Museum
Location: Away to Remember Competition, Their Past Your Future, Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Road, London, SE1 6HZ

Description:

Are you aged 14 -16?  What has the First World War got to do with you?
Win a place an all expenses paid overseas trip and find out!

At the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month of 1918, the fighting that had involved every continent around the world stopped.  Germany and the Allies had agreed an Armistice.  The First World War had lasted four years, 4 months and 14 days.

To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Armistice, the Imperial War Museum is working in association with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. They are looking for 24 young people from across the UK, to travel on an all expenses paid visit to France and Belgium for Remembrance Day, from 7-12 November 2008.

To win a place on this once in a lifetime experience they want young people between the ages of 14 and 16 to answer two questions:

  • Question 1:  What impact did the First World War have on your community?
  • Question 2: What do you think about Remembrance now and in the future?

Led by experienced staff from the Imperial War Museum, competition winners will spend a weekend in London during October preparing for the visit.  In November they will head to France and Belgium to discover some of the amazing stories the battlefields were witness to.  All travel, accommodation, food and fees will be paid for by Their Past Your Future project.

For further information about the competitions and to download an application form please select the link to the IWM's Their Past Your Future project website

The closing date for applications is 9th September 2008.
