This pack is comprised of 30 colour image cards, a CD-Rom and a teachers' handbook that contains learning activity sheets for students and provides guidance for teachers on how to use archival information and media from The Royal Geographical Society with the Institute of British Geographers in the classroom.

The first section of the teachers' handbook addresses the idea that certain landscapes are associated with certain groups of people and how this contributes to national identity.  Included are photos from the archives and contemplative questions to ask students about the photos.

The second section focuses on slavery and its legacies and the archival photos encourage students to critically examine the history of slavery and human rights issues.

The third section is about the tourist and the traveller and stimulates the students' thinking about how British tourists view the world they travel within. At the end of the teachers' handbook are 5 learning activities for teachers to use with groups of children and young people in the classroom. Each set of activities makes reference to the archive resources provided in this pack and also correspond to each of the 3 sections covering issues of exploration, tourism, and slavery.

Printed copies of the pack are available FREE of charge c/o The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG). (ISBN: 0-9550930-6-6)
