Holocaust Memorial Day aims to raise awareness, inform and educate about the Holocaust and its relevance today. The site also helps to facilitate participation in the Holocaust Memorial Day which is held on 27th January each year. The site was developed by the charity Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) and provides resources including images, poetry, survivor testimonies and artwork. Assembly and lesson worksheet resources are also available as well as useful links to other websites on the subject. The HMDT can also provide video and PowerPoint resources for schools to develop local commemorations relating to Holocaust Memorial Day, on request. The site is useful for citizenship as it explores issues of diversity and difference as well as identity. There are citizenship lesson plans, materials and notes for teachers for Key stages 3, 4 and 5.
