Young Diasporas: Longing and Belonging is a book produced by WEDG - World Educational Development Group for East Kent - in 2007. The book contains the life stories of 18 children and young people who live in Kent but have roots in - and connections with - other parts of the world. The case studies can be used in the Key Stage 2 or 3 classroom, to provoke engagement with cultural diversity, identity and citizenship. Each case study links with the National Curriculum and these links are identified. It also contains a large list of online resources for 13 different countries and for English Romany communities and Irish travellers. The book provides suggested teaching activities, key vocabulary and worksheets and comes with a CD-Rom containing a copy of the book and a powerpoint presentation about the interviews included.
