On Your Marks! is an education website comprising factsheets, news articles, cross-curricular teaching ideas and a library of pictures about the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Developed as part of the 2012 Education Programme the factsheets featured on the website are divided into two sets of teaching and learning materials:
- Resources for 7-11 year olds, comprising 10 factsheets on the following topics: Games traditions in 2012; Great Britain's successes in the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games; Health, fitness and physical activity; London - a cultural capital; London needs you!; The changing Olympic Games and Paralympic Games; The Paralympic Games in 2012; London 2012 - a world city; What's planned for London 2012?; Games symbols and mascots.
- Resources for 11-14 year olds, featuring 10 factsheets with the following titles: Get ready for 2012!; Guess the athlete; Health, fitness and physical activity; London - a cultural capital; Olympic Games and Paralympic Games traditions in 2012; Regeneration in London in 2012; Sports design for athletes; The changing Olympic Games and Paralympic Games; The Olympic Park and sustainability; The Olympic Values and Paralympic Ethos.
In addition to the above the On Your Marks! website provides access to a selection of news articles about important events leading up to London winning the bid, the plans that are being made and work taking place now, a ‘Teaching Ideas' section - with hints and tips about how to make best use of the online resources within a classroom teaching and learning context and an online photo album comprising images of Olympic and Paralympic athletes, cultural events associated with the Games and historical images of past opening and closing ceremonies.
