  • What are our key defining features?
  • What unites people across cultures, regions and continents?
  • How do personal, legal and human rights affect our place in society?
  • Can we test for national citizenship?
  • How interconnected are our economies?
  • Why is birth registration such a key issue in the developing world?

All of these questions are explored at various levels through schemes of work for four key stages. Each scheme consists of 4 lessons with accompanying resources. The lessons are all clearly mapped to national curriculum attainment targets.

The source material and resources have been developed from the ‘Identity project', which linked 25 schools in the UK with schools in Africa and a youth group from the Philippines. Together the young people explored the concept of identity in relation to rights and responsibilities. The groups explored these topics in the classroom and online through e-mail discussion forums and chat rooms.
