The Jewish Way Of Life CD-Rom is a free resource giving teachers all they need to engage pupils in effective and enriching learning about Judaism. Produced in 2008 by The Board of Deputies of British Jews, the content is matched to the non-statutory National Framework for RE and meets the needs of Agreed Syllabuses. It's especially aimed at Key Stage 2 but much can readily be used at key stages 1 and 3.
The CD-Rom contains a wealth of information and varied activities, mostly digital, which are suitable for whole-class teaching or for pupils to use either independently or collaboratively. One of the CD-Rom's distinctive features is the contribution made by two Jewish children who speak of their experiences as young Jews growing up in Britain and who appear in short video or audio clips to introduce most of the topics and themes.
The CD-Rom is supported by a teacher's website (http://www.jwol.org.uk/) which is extensive in scope. It can help teachers extend their own knowledge of Judaism, forge cross-curricular links and plan their teaching across the attainment range.
This resource is free to every school in the UK and be can ordered by registering online at www.jwol.org.uk.
