Heritage Explorer is an image-based resource for teaching history, citizenship and many more subjects.  Teachers can access classroom-ready materials at the click of a button.  Choose from over 360,000 pictures, including historic views of daily life, aerial photography, and modern shots of listed buildings. Images are accompanied by accessible information and a range of teaching ideas.

The website has a keyword search facility to look for something specific, or separate sections where the database content is grouped according to subjects, themes, teaching activities for different key stages and interactives.

Particularly relevant teaching activities linked to the Who Do We Think We Are? themes are listed and linked below:

A range of case studies and 'How to' guides have also been drafted to provide useful information on how to get the most out of Heritage Explorer and tailor the resources to suit specific teaching and learning needs.

Regular users of the Heritage Explorer database can also use the 'My Favourites' section of the site and create a 'Heritage Passport' for saving links to images and text from the site.

Material can be freely download from the site, provided that the intention is to use the images for  private study, non-commercial research or instructional and educational purposes only. A full set of terms and conditions of use are provided at http://www.heritageexplorer.org.uk.
