Institute of Community Cohesion (ICOCO) Toolkits
The Institute of Community Cohesion (ICOCO) was established in 2005 to provide a new approach to race, diversity and multiculturalism. Their work focuses on building positive and harmonious community relations and represents a unique partnership of academic, statutory and non-governmental bodies, combining the experience and expertise of four Universities with practitioners from a range of diverse backgrounds and professions.
The ICOCO website provides access to a wide range of toolkits that offer practical advice and guidance to cohesion practitioners, youth service professionals and teachers. They feature top tips and checklists to help practitioners working in different contexts to plan schemes of work and projects linked to community cohesion.
Informed by practitioners and evidenced by examples of community cohesion good practice, ICOCO's toolkits suggest workable approaches to dealing with issues in areas including communications, faith, tension monitoring, sport and population dynamics.
ICOCO is actively engaged in research and development activity in the field and the work presented on its website is therefore dynamic and evolving.
