The DCSF Global Gateway is for all schools seeking to work in groups and networks, sharing their learning and outlook with schools in the UK, Europe and globally.

Registration is free and gives access to hundreds of potential partner schools plus advice on funding, projects and ‘how to'. Registered schools choose their approach to international linking that could include any or all of the following:

  • Relevant learning experiences and communication in a real world context
  • Improved MFL teaching and learning
  • Music, drama, performing arts
  • The Global Dimension (issues such as human rights)
  • Understanding cultural diversity through local and world history
  • Community Cohesion - examining Britishness in a global context
  • Literacy issues including ELL in the UK and worldwide
  • Appreciation of community languages through history and culture
  • ICT, teams, and a skills or project-based approach to learning
  • Widening participation by including SEN units in the link
  • Enterprise, futures and careers or further study abroad
  • Supporting a cross-curricular approach in the school (e.g. science and geography)
  • New Secondary Curriculum toolkit for linking

The Gateway is managed by the British Council for the DCSF. http://www.globalgateway.org
